I feel so much stupider and yet wiser at the same time, since leaving the cocksuredness of the JW mindset. Stupider, in that I THOUGHT I had all the answers to all the questions, when in fact I had never personally asked a lot of the questions that needed answering.
I don't necessarily think it's intelligence most JWs lack, it's using what intelligence they have. They just want reinforcement, nothing to ever challenge the way their mind is wired. With challenge, comes progress. Without it, there is stagnation, as WT Wizard said.

Except didn't Jesus say - "Pray that your flight not take place in winter" Matthew 24:20 (re: the great tribulation) I guess from the point of view of survivors, though, the great Armageddon in winter might be a good thing due to decaying carcasses taking longer to decompose. Just proves there's always a different angle on things, if you just think hard enough!

ROFLMAO - that was just so insanely FUNNY!
when i was growing up as a born in jw, i remember the fear that dfing stirred up within me.
as a kid, seeing a df'd person was quite a scary thing.
thinking back about how it was growing up, it occurred to me that at the time, i never realized that a person had to be baptized in order to be df'd.
I still remember the very first disfellowshipment announcement I ever heard like it was yesterday - it was like a death sentence being pronounced.
Eerie silence as the brother on the podium announced that the presiding overseer would be coming up to make an announcement to the congregation....then the disfellowshipment announcement and then a look of shock on all in the congregation...the mother of the individual sobbing and immediately getting up to leave with the rest of the family...horrifying to all concerned....kind of like a witch trial...but instead of hauling them up on the platform to tie them to a stake just banishing them from the 'kingdom'...

monday night: prepare for the tuesday night book study i will conduct.
